This is certainly a unique nature-made attraction. After countless eons of the swirling whirlpools, the waterborne sand and rock have been transformed into huge, cylindrical potholes. A great place to spend the day outdoors. There are well thought out tracks with two bridges spanning high over the rivers. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes so that you can walk everywhere and soak it all in!
You can even get to some areas of the potholes and have a dip. We aware though, the water is freezing cold!
The potholes actually got their name from the famous gold digger known as Tom Burke. He staked a claim nearby the area, but he didn’t actually make any more from the claim. The potholes are located 35 km north of Graskop on the R532 road.
Entrance fee is R60 for an adult and R20 per child and free to children under 6 years old.
You will be pleased to know that there are braai and picnic facilities!
