The view from God’s Window has inspired tons of different artists and photographers from all around the world. And, once you venture to the area and take in the view, you will see why the Mpumalanga is known as Paradise Country. However, there is a lot more to do here than just take in the amazing sites. Of course, the main attraction and draw to the area is the site itself, which offer a panoramic view of the Lowveld that extend 900 meters down into the lush forest below. If you are a lover of wildlife or plant life there are a number of exciting species that you can spot here. Above, you learned about all the wildlife in the area and when they migrated to the area, but the area is also host to some unique vegetation.

The vegetation in the area is referred to as the Northeastern Drakensberg High-Mountain Sourveld ecoregion. Along with this, it has been reported that there are around 1,000 different plant species that call the area home. Some of these species include the cycads, which are located near the Blyde River, the orchid, the lily, and protea. There are also a number of Tree ferns that grow right along the seepages in the uplands. Over the years there have been a number of viewing sites that have been established by the local parks and rec department. Along with these viewing sites, there are a number of walking trails, hiking trails, horseback riding trails, as well as mountain bike trails.

Once you are at the parking area, you will find that there is a very steep stepped footpath that is located along the edge of the Escarpment. It is this path that will lead right to the viewing points. However, if you are looking for the best lookout points as well as exotic forest plants, you will want to steer clear of this path. Instead, you will want to avoid the crowds and hike up the clouds and into the misty Rain Forest. Just be sure to bring along a snack and plenty of hydration because the area can get extremely humid and you will work up a sweat on your way in and out. The hike will be steep and strenuous, but offer the perfect work out for individual looking to get in some cardio while taking in amazing views.
